Zusammenfassung: | The author describes an Indian roadside performer who earns his living by swallowing and regurgitating 10 to 15 live snakes and fishes. Clinical photographs, barium meal radiographs, and oesophageal and gastric pressure recordings are published. Voluntary control of regurgitation may be learnt. The author suggests a possible application of this action. Patients suffering from gastric hyperacidity may be able to avoid taking antacids by giving themselves voluntary gastric lavages. |
