Zusammenfassung: | The growth of deplanted salamander limbs and parts of the central nervous system in the fin matrix of host (Axolotl) animals, using procedures introduced by Weiss, was confirmed. An outgrowth of nerve fibers was traced to the muscular deplant and observed to terminate on motor end plates. Acetylcholinesterase was observed in many of the innervated end plates. Reorganization of the cellular elements in the deplanted spinal cord appears to be dependent on the formation of new cells from the proliferating germinal cells lining the central cavity. Various stages of multiplication, proliferation, and maturation of these cells were studied. |
