Zusammenfassung:The intake and excretion of calcium and fat was studied in infants 5-7 days old receiving three types of milk (breast-milk and two proprietary milks, new ' S.M.A./S.26' and 'Ostermilk No. 1'). The results show that, besides qualitative factors which influence the absorption of fat, there is also a quantitative effect, and that at higher levels of fat intake the unabsorbed fat may interfere profoundly with the absorption of calcium. There may be an association between the type and amount of fat that an infant receives and hypocalcæmic tetany.
