Zusammenfassung: | Patients with cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia had significantly increased neutralising antibody activity to type 2 herpes simplex virus in the cervical mucus. While patients differed from control subjects with respect to their number of sexual partners and socio-economic class, there were significant differences in neutralising antibody activity for case control comparisons within the same number of sexual partners or socio-economic groupings. The results lend support to the putative association between type 2 herpes simplex virus infection and pre-invasive and invasive carcinoma of the uterine cervix. |
