Zusammenfassung:Implantation of an artificial lens after extracapsular cataract extraction with perforation of the anterior and posterior lens capsules is only possible under special circumstances. In only one out of 5 cases could a posterior chamber lens be implanted. This kind of injury can easily lead to a vitreous-lens mixture in the anterior chamber, which then has to be removed by a vitrector. In the cases described here the unilateral aphakia was corrected with a contact lens. In order to prevent future complications neither an anterior chamber lens nor an iris clip lens were implanted.
