Zusammenfassung: | Recent work on the homopolymeric poly(A) tail of eucaryotic mRNA has led to a clearer understanding of its synthesis, degradation, and function. This review will emphasize the key insights of these studies and attempt to summarize current working models. Two recurring themes in poly(A) research, the recruitment of enzymes by RNA binding proteins and the recognition of degenerate RNA sequences by combinations of RNA binding proteins, will be highlighted. |
