In vivo measurements of lead and platinum in the kidney of chemotherapy patients were performed with the technique of x-ray fluorescence, using
99mTc in a backscatter geometry. The results of the pilot study were inconclusive; the majority of patients exhibited no evidence of kidney lead at the level of system sensitivity, and negligible blood and urine lead levels. |
