Zusammenfassung:	In the present review, fluctuations of reductase activity with the cell cycle and the relation of dNTP pools to this activity, and the regulation and structural components of mammalian ribonucleotide reductase will be discussed, and a new model (intercalating model) of reductase regulation is proposed. Finally, pertinent information regarding an altered reductase in virus infected mammalian cells is summarized.
