Zusammenfassung:	Brain damaged children frequently, are unable to eat by mouth due to incoordination of tongue and pharyngeal swallowing muscles. The commonly utilized Stamm gastrostomy has several drawbacks relative to the indwelling catheter. A permanent gastrostomy consisting of a mucosal-lined tube flap from the stomach wall, as described by Janeway, is easily constructed using the GIA stapler. This provides a simple, tubeless, and safe way to feed cerebral palsied children unable to eat by mouth.
