Zusammenfassung:Peptides are chemical signals of intercellular communication, and those released into and distributed by the circulatory system can be entrapped by specific binding sites on dozens of cell populations throughout the body. The transfer of peptides through the endothelial cell layer of the brain vasculature and the blood-brain barrier transport alterations induced by blood-borne peptidic signals are examined, and the results are discussed.
