Zusammenfassung: | Globalization & the current financial crisis are forcing nations, including Mexico, to adapt the economic, financial & productive structures of companies & public institutions as a premise for surviving in a volatile & changing environment. Against this background, the purpose of this study is to analyze & interpret university management problems in order to explain its system of governance as a form of social insertion and the management of its financial model as a sustainable form for future viability in the light of governance and organizational theory. In this context, the public university considered as a social system, is forced to formulate novel policies & lines of action that allow it to obtain & distribute the resources needed to fulfill its mission by applying the normative perspective of governance that permits its insertion in the community & a financial model that provides future sustainability, aligning strategic actors in the institution in the search for a common aim.
