Zusammenfassung:The different protocols used for intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) training were found to have conflicting instructions and 32 different contraindications. These protocols were found to contradict each other with regards to antibiotic prophylaxis, postpartum insertions of IUDs, management of complications and sterilization and disinfection procedures. Some of the contraindications that were of medicolegal concerns in the US were found to be inappropriate in developing countries.
