Zusammenfassung:EEG monitoring was carried out by an EEG technician during 100 consecutive carotid endarterectomies in a community hospital. The technician's rating of the EEGs correlated with an inhouse electroencephalographer's interpretation and with historical published data. We conclude that intraoperative EEG monitoring during carotid endarterectomies can adequately be carried out by a competent EEG technician provided adequate physician backup and supervision are available.
