Cadmium, lead, and zinc concentrations in human fingernails
Fingernail samples taken from 163 subjects in Japan were analyzed for cadmium, lead, and zinc content. Heavy-metal levels in nails were higher in spring than in winter. The geometric mean of Zn in nails from males and females was 134 and 136 mu g/g, respectively. Samples from men contained higher Cd...

Zusammenfassung: | Fingernail samples taken from 163 subjects in Japan were analyzed for cadmium, lead, and zinc content. Heavy-metal levels in nails were higher in spring than in winter. The geometric mean of Zn in nails from males and females was 134 and 136 mu g/g, respectively. Samples from men contained higher Cd and Pb concentrations relative to samples from women. These background levels from the general population are compared with values documented in other studies in other areas. |
