Zusammenfassung:An outbreak of diarrhoea caused by rotavirus is described. Eleven patients and four staff on the cardiology ward were affected. Rotavirus was detected in five of 11 individuals examined (45 per cent) and rising antibody was demonstrated by immune electron microscopy. Our findings indicate that adults, over 60 years of age in particular, may be susceptible to rotavirus when exposed in confined communities.
