Diagnostic Radiologic Research: The Disincentives to Its Propagation

I have attempted to identify the general factors acting as impediments to diagnostic radiology research, which I have termed "external disincentives," and the more specific factors which adversely affect diagnostic radiology, termed "internal disincentives," and to present some existing recommendations for correcting them. Obviously, much work needs to be done. The real purpose of this article will have been served if it helps to point out the seriousness and complexity of the problems affecting the continuation and growth of research within diagnostic radiology.
