Zusammenfassung:A new enzymatic method using acyl-CoA synthetase, acyl-CoA oxidase, and peroxidase was established for the colorimetric determination of long-chain free fatty acids. The procedure consists of only two steps: the synthesis of acyl-CoA from the free fatty acids and the oxidation of acyl-CoA in the presence of N-ethylmaleimide at 37°C. Compared to conventional methods, this method has a high specificity for free fatty acids, is reproducible, is applicable to smaller quantities of sample, and can be completed within a shorter period of time.
