Zusammenfassung:Analyzing data collected by Infratest dimap Richard Hilmer explains the dramatic slump of the SPD. The massive loss of votes can be led back in part to decisions made years ago, for example the Hartz VI legislation or the drawback of Oskar Lafontaine in 1999. It can also be concluded that the numerous changes in leadership weakened the SPD. Also, the lack of confidence voters had in the competence of the SPD regarding almost all policy fields, especially regarding economic and labor issues, is noticeable. Regarding the election campaign itself, one more reason was the lack of a power strategy. Adapted from the source document.
