Zusammenfassung:At the Institute of Optics and Quantum Electronics, University of Jena, a fully diode pumped ultrahigh peak power laser system - POLARIS - has been realized. Presently, this laser system reaches a peak power of some ten terawatt. The last amplifier, which will boost the output energy to the 100 J level, is nearly completed and will be soon commissioned. The applied technologies and the basic design are reviewed here.
