The effect of substituents on the hydrolysis of phenyl acetate by wheat germ lipase

1. 1. Substituted phenyl acetates have been studied as substrates for wheat germ lipase. 2. 2. The enzymatically catalyzed hydrolysis of these substrates follows the usual Michaelis-Menten formulation. 3. 3. A mechanism for the enzymatic hydrolysis is proposed, and observed k 3 E 0 ( Vmax) values an...

Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Substituted phenyl acetates have been studied as substrates for wheat germ lipase. 2. 2. The enzymatically catalyzed hydrolysis of these substrates follows the usual Michaelis-Menten formulation. 3. 3. A mechanism for the enzymatic hydrolysis is proposed, and observed k 3 E 0 ( Vmax) values and calculated k 1 E 0 values are correlated with this mechanism.
