Ultrasonic versus hand filing of dentin: A quantitative study

Ultrasonic energized filing was compared to hand instrumentation for its ability to remove dentin. The ultrasonically activated file was significantly superior in its capacity to remove dentin, as determined by both gravimetric and photographic overlay techniques.
