Zusammenfassung:Absorption studies in replanted ileac segments in dogs have shown that chloride and water absorption are unimpaired. Mucosal permeability, as measured by the passage of ovalbumin, is unaltered and the response to hypertonic damage is within the same range as in normal standard Thiry-Vella loops. Lymphatic regeneration occurs even in end-to-side anastomosis. Intestinal motility is maintained in a cephalad-caudad fashion. The replanted ileac segment, after removal of the remaining small bowel, is adequate to sustain life.
