THE INTENSIVE ELECTRIC SHOCK THERAPY OF CHRONIC DISTURBED PSYCHOTIC PATIENTS

1. Intensive electric shock treatment was tried on a large, chronic, disturbed psychotic women's ward over a 3-month period. 2. As a result restraint was reduced roughly 90%, seclusion roughly 66%, and sedation roughly 90%. Patients in general became better "ward citizens."
