Zusammenfassung:18F-F 2 produced by the 20 Ne(d, α) 18 F reaction was used to synthesize 25–35 mCi of 18F-5-fluorouracil. The mechanism of reaction of 18F-F 2 with uracil in acetic acid was studied by NMR and radiochemical techniques, and the primary reaction intermediate, 18F-5-fluoro-6-acetoxy-5,6-dihydrouracil, was isolated and identified. A novel fractional sublimation technique used in the synthesis and purification of 18F-5-fluorouracil is described.
