Temperature conditions for rolling on primary mills

Primary-mill shops Nos. 1 and 2 at the "Krivorozhstal'" Plant have installed single-stand two-high reversing blooming mills with rolls 1250 and 1300 mm in diameter. A study was made in both shops of temperature conditions for rolling ingots on the blooming mills with subsequent rolling on the intermediate mills. The temperature of the metal was measured with an optical pyrometer at the same characteristic boundary points in both shops: after the last pass on the blooming mill, on the shears, after the first and second stands of the first group of the intermediate mill, and after the first and second stands of the second group of the intermediate mill.
