Zusammenfassung:The long history of the evolution of marine organisms has made these organisms as a source of high molecular diversity. In searching a new anti cancer drugs, these organisms have become an intense objects of research. Sponges and gorgonian were collected from Jepara and Labuan Bajo-Flores Waters from the depth of 1-3 m and 3-38 m respectively by Skin and SCUBA diving. The samples were extracted with methanol. The extracts were assayed against cancer cell (L1210 cell line) with tested concentration ranging from 0, 1, 5 and 10 ppm. The cell line was cultured in complete RPMI media and growth inhibition was measured with direct counting. Methanol extract of sponges and gorgonian yielded approximately from 0.55 - 24.7% of dry weight or 0.36 - 7.34% of wet basis. All methanol extracts of the samples could inhibit the growth of L 1210 cell line and is potential for further purification. Methanol extracts from 3 species of sponges (Xestospongia sp and Phyllospongia sp and UP8) and one ethyl acetate fraction of I. Hippuris had IC-50 value < 3 mg/mL. Methanol extract of 8 species of sponges (Agelas nakamurai, Ircina ramosa, A06. Phyllospongia lamellosa. Phyllospongia sp. UP9, Calispongla sp and Fascaplynopsis sp) had IC-50 < 5 mg/mL, methanol extract of 5 species of sponges (Hyrtios erecta. Xestospongia sp. Cladocroce sp, Oceanapia cf. Amboiensis and Haliclona sp.) and one water extract of I. hippuris had IC-50 < 10 mg mL.
