V.M. Shestakov and the development of modern hydrogeodynamic ideas

The scientific and pedagogical career of Professor V.M. Shestakov is analyzed in connection with his developing and forming the modern shape of hydrogeodynamics as an applied field of hydrogeology. This paper discusses Shestakov’s main achievements and publications, which have aided the development of hydrogeodynamics. The areas of the field of hydrogeology, to which Shestakov made a considerable contribution, are enumerated.
