Device for breaking up furnace and soaking-pit linings

The lining of the bottom of the regenerative soaking pits at the 1100 blooming mill at our combine is broken up manually with air hammers. A mobile concrete breaker was developed and introduced to mechanize this time-consuming operation. The breaker can be used on cold repairs and to destroy old foundations and brick linings. To device consists of a weighted base 1 which supports a rotating platform 5, the platform in turn supporting an air motor 3, pump 4, seat 6, control panel 7, moisture separator with automatic lubricator 8, a rotation mechanism 9 comprised of two welded hydraulic cylinders and a boom 2, and an air hammer 11 mounted on the end of the boom. The boom is raised and lowered by the hydraulic cylinders 10. Special lugs 12 have been welded to the boom to permit transport of the concrete breaker by tong-equipped crane.
