Improved electrorheological-fluid variable damper designed for semiactive vibration suppression

The studied damper can be modeled as a variable coulomb-friction damper. The friction in the damper is not zero, even when no voltage is applied to the electrode of the damper, and is an increasing functions of the absolute value of the voltage.
