Zusammenfassung: | Upon completion of the current construction, a total of 40 replacement steam generators (RSGs) will have been built by Babcock and Wilcox (B&W) Canada for 14 reactor units. This represents approximately U.S.$1 billion of manufacture, excluding installation costs. The first B&W RSG was the Millstone 2, for Northeast Utilities in 1988. Manufacture is presently underway for Calvert Cliffs 1 and 2, for Constellation Nuclear, and for Oconce 1, 2 and 3, for Duke Energy. These projects are described in detail. B&W's reliability record is scrutinized; and design and operational enhancements are discussed. |
