New findings of rare fish species from families mitsukurinidae (Chondrichthyes), muraenidae, lophiidae, macrouridae, and psychrolutidae (Teleostei) on raises of the atlantic ocean with the description of Gymnothorax walvisensis sp. nova

Descriptions are given of one new and five rare fish species first found on raises of the Atlantic Ocean: Mitsukurina owstoni (Vavilov Ridge), Gymnothorax cf. moringa (Vavilov Ridge), G. walvisensis Prokofiev sp. n. (Walvis Ridge), Sladenia shaefersi (Angular Rise), Hymenocephalus billsam (Rio Grande Rise), and Ebinania costaecanariae (South Atlantic Ridge, first occurrence of the species on seamounts). The specimen G. cf. moringa from Vavilov Ridge differed from typical individuals of this species from the western Atlantic and demonstrated, in some characteristics, a similarity with the close species G. vicinus , but did not correspond to both these species in some characteristics. The new species G. walvisensis is close to the species of subgenus Neomuraena , known earlier only from the New World, but was characterized by its light and practically solid color, only five mandibular pores, peculiarities of vomer dentition, and vertebral formula.
