Zusammenfassung:The presence of a number of tropical diseases new to the temperate climate surgeon stimulates interest in the differential diagnosis of appendicitis which too often is somewhat perfunctorily made. However, the principles of surgical judgment are no different in the tropics than any other place. The surgeon must familiarize himself with and also be prepared to recognize tropical disease which may simulate appendicitis.
