Zusammenfassung: | Iontophoresis is a form of transdermal delivery which forces poorly absorbed ionic drugs through the skin using a current to enhance penetration. To study the effect of waveshape on iontophoretic efficacy, a device was designed to synthesize several constant current waveforms including DC and pulsed DC, and two novel iontophoretic waveforms - trapezoidal and biphasic pulsed DC. Each waveform was used to deliver an antihypertensive drug transdermally to acutely induced hypertensive rabbits. |
