Certain desiderata have been stressed. Pre- and post-operative treatment has been discussed. Techniques for local and general anaesthesia have been descriptionbed. The importance of bronchial blocking has been stressed, and a descriptionption of the blocker and its usage given. The relative merits of local and general anaesthesia for lobectomy and pneumonectomy have been compared.
