The pharmacokinetics of amikacin and gentamicin in volunteers: a comparison of individual differences

Zusammenfassung: | In a 10 volunteer cross-over study the pharmacology of intravenous gentamicin (120 mg) and amikacin (500 mg) was studied. The mean elimination data from each drug was remarkably similar, but differences were apparent where individuals were compared. Volunteers differed considerably from the mean in their excretion of gentamicin but these differences were far less marked in the case of amikacin. It would appear that the pharmacology of the latter drug is more predictable. |
