Wireless meter reading system based on Zigbee and DL/T645

Traditional GPRS, CDMA wireless meter reading system has high power and bad network real-time performance. A new wireless multifunctional meter reading system developed for a kind of power meter based on DL/T645-1997 multifunctional meter communication specification is introduced in this paper. The system is composed of Mega128 AVR MCU and RF230 RF transceiver, compliant with IEEE 802.15.4/Zigbee, which is a wireless multi-hop network with self-organizing. So it can guarantee stability to the wireless data transfer. This system has several functions such as meter remote reading, power UP/OFF remote control getting magnitude of voltage & current, etc. What's more, because of its low power and low cost characteristic, the modes suit the wireless meter reading system. This paper provides the communication specification, diagram of hardware & software of the system.
