At least 85 women helped design and construct the atom bomb, contributing signficantly to the Manhattan Project. The work of several of women physicists is discussed, including research by Maria Goeppert Mayer and Joan Hinton. The difficulties faced by Ellen Cleminshaw Weaver, a biologist and Manhattan Project veteran, are discussed.
