Zusammenfassung:Chloroquine (CQ) has historically been the mainstay of malaria treatment; however, the recent development of widespread CQ resistance in Plasmodium falciparum has contributed significantly to escalating mortality rates in Africa and to the resurgence of malaria as an immediate public health priority. Research by Sidhu et al regarding resistance to CQ is discussed.
