Microtubules, central elements of cellular organization

This paper reviews the way in which microtubules may interact with other cytoplasmic fibrils in the organization of the cytoplasm in animal cells. Most of the available information has been gathered by studying cultured cells, which mostly retain only few aspects of differentiation. However, with some caution, many of the basic findings can be extended to differentiated cells as they occur in living organisms.
