Dr. Sands' Sounding Board in the July 1 issue is in general excellent; however, as an aviation attorney of 25 years' experience, I was shocked that a doctor who is a consultant in cardiology to the Federal Aviation Administration could seriously suggest that "Consideration for certification after bypass surgery should be limited to a career aviator in whose case it can be demonstrated that the loss of flight status would impose a severe economic hardship on either the pilot or the employer." * The only class of aviators who could conceivably fit this description are airline captains. . . .
