Zusammenfassung: | Pepsin digest extracted fractions from human glomerular basement membranes (HGBM) and placenta were characterized for their chemical composition and tested for their biological activity. We demonstrated that fractions which contained type IV collagen induced cell adhesion and spreading of transformed epithelial cells: Kb (ATCC CCL17). Hep2 (ATCC CCL23), WISH (ATCC CCL25), HOS (TE 85 F5). The experiments reported in this paper suggest a possible involvement of type IV collagen in cell recognition and cell attachment processes. |
