Zusammenfassung:Tabulated results are given of experiments on the effect of temperature and the presence of chelating agents on the uptake of cadmium by oysters (Crassostrea virginica) from sea water. The rate of uptake increased with increase in temperature. The presence of various chelating agents reduced the toxicity of cadmium, indicating that toxicity is due to the unbound labile fraction of the metal.
