Renal Scanning: Pitfalls in the Diagnosis of Mass Lesions

Renal scanning with Tc-99 DMSA has been reported to be an accurate method for distinguishing renal masses from normal variations. Two cases of error in diagnosis have come to our attention. The possible sources of error are discussed.
