Zusammenfassung:The clinical picture of depression in children six to twelve years of age is described. Recognition of depressed affect in children can be difficult. In addition to dysphoria, these children frequently have lower self-esteem, a reduced capacity for fun, massive guilt, social withdrawal, impaired schoolwork, excessive fatigue, psychomotor retardation, and morbid or suicidal ideation.
