Zusammenfassung:Sternal segment dislocation is a rare event. Previously described cases have been secondary to severe trauma, embolic phenomena and post-radiation necrosis. We describe the first documented case of spontaneous sternal segment dislocation in a previously healthy 5-yr-old white male. The developmental anatomy and embryology are described and etiologic factors are discussed.
