Prostaglandin-induced eosinopenia in splenectomized rats

PGE 1 , PGE 2 , and PGF 2α over a dose range of 1 to 50 μ/kg decreased the number of circulating eosinophils in splenectomized rats. Pretreatment with a β-blocking agent, propranolol, did not alter this effect, but adrenalectomy eliminated it. Anterior hypothalamic destruction also abolished eosinop...

Zusammenfassung:PGE 1 , PGE 2 , and PGF 2α over a dose range of 1 to 50 μ/kg decreased the number of circulating eosinophils in splenectomized rats. Pretreatment with a β-blocking agent, propranolol, did not alter this effect, but adrenalectomy eliminated it. Anterior hypothalamic destruction also abolished eosinopenia induced by PGE 1 and PGF 2α but not that induced by PGE 2 .
