Pancreatic islet cell hypertrophy in the Syrian hamster

The morphology and the identification of hypertrophied pancreatic islet cells in the Syrian hamster are described. Their possible significance is discussed and the distribution pattern is compared to similar changes reported in the literature for the Chinese hamster.
