Zusammenfassung:Statement of problem. The rationale of preimplant surgery is the creation of an environment that is favorable to the function and long-term survival of endosseous dental implants. Indications for this type of surgery depend on anatomic conditions, implant type, and design of the superstructure. One essential requirement for successful implantation is the presence of sufficient bone in which the implants are placed. Besides the quantity of bone, the quality of bone and the intermaxillary relation play an important role. Purpose This article presents an overview of several techniques for specific implant conditions. (J Prosthet Dent 1998;80:175-83.)
