Steady state adaptation in the ground squirrel retina: PIII and B-wave intensity-response functions

Zusammenfassung: | A mammalian cone response was isolated for mass recording by injecting sodium
l-aspartate solution into the vitreous of the nearly all-cone eye of the ground squirrel. The best isolations were obtained immediately after injections of large amounts of aspartate; after 3–4 hr, some recovery partially reversed the isolation. Measurements of peak cone responses yielded intensity-response functions that were shape-invariant as the adaptive state was varied. In contrast, the b-wave intensity-response functions steepen with light adaptation. |
