Relationship between spasmogenic activity of bombesin and prostaglandins on the rat pylorus

Tetradecapeptide bombesin displayed a spasmogenic effect on the rat pyloric sphincter, which was inhibited by infusion of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and somatostatin. These findings seem to suggest that the peptide acts through formation and release of prostaglandins and gastrin.
